Not sure why we need a spoiler policy for thread titles on a fiction site. Yes, spoilers are annoying. No, a bracket is not going to protect anyone who opens a thread called 'the ending of chapter three'. Can we have the mods' actual position instead of the pinned paragraph? If the answer is because the report queue is full, then say that, and I will stop making the argument and start using the bracket.

Fiction site, yes, but half the board posts are quest updates and adaptation threads. I would rather see [SPOILERS] in a title than get the convoy spoiled in a notification. It costs one bracket. This feels like a lot of debate for a bracket. I have been spoiled in a notification about a story I had marked for later. It is a small thing until it is your story, and then it is the whole story.

This is a solution looking for a problem. People who care already tag. People who do not, will not. The rest of us get to trip over brackets forever because three users complained. Honestly, the spoiler policy exists so that people can feel important. But the mods on this site are reasonable people, and reasonable people still need a rule they can point to. I just do not want the brackets to become the point.

Bram, that is a bit much. I am the one who complained, and the ask was one bracket in a title, not a policy about your mother. Take a breath. I reported the post; the mods can decide what they want to do with it. That said, if the mods decide no change is needed, I will take the L in public like everyone else and go back to reading. For what it is worth, bram, I would rather argue with you about tea than about this.

Policy stands: prefix titles with [SPOILERS] when the title itself reveals a plot point; mods will edit rather than remove. Bram, consider this an informal nudge, not a strike — but the report is open and I will be noting this in the queue. Thread remains open. Everyone else: brackets. It is one bracket. For the record, bram's report is open, not decided. Reports are not verdicts; they are a queue. The queue is now back to zero and I am going to make tea.
